“MAP-21” (S.1813): Gives IRS the Authority To Confiscate Your Firearms

MAP-21″ is officially called the “Moving Ahead for Progress in the 21st Century Act” but MAKE NO MISTAKE – “MAP-21” goes FAR BEYOND highway safety and construction and delves into the nasty area of UNCONSTITUTIONALLY EMPOWERING the already TOO-powerful, UNACCOUNTABLE, over-bloated IRS.

examiner – A new bill passed by the Democrat controlled Senate and now headed to the House would give the IRS broad new powers that watchdogs say include revoking gun rights and passports.

The bill, S.1813, is a reauthorization of the federal highway aid, safety, and construction program. But Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-NV, and Senator Barbara Boxer, D-CA, added a major provision to the bill regarding the IRS.

The two Senators apparently want the IRS to have the power to revoke the gun rights of citizens and their right to travel if they owe more than $50,000 in back taxes.

But the problem is that the IRS would not be required to prove that a citizen owes $50,000. All it would take is for the IRS to accuse a citizen of owing that amount.

According to Before It’s News, the bill’s provisions would give the IRS the power to:

Accuse Americans of delinquency of tax payment without due process.

Revoke their passports and travel rights.

Place the accused in a centralize database.

Authorize the removal of their right to own a firearm.

And the Daily Economist provides the following assessment of the new law:

There is no requirement that the tax payer be guilty of or even charged with tax evasion, fraud, or any criminal offense – only that the citizen is alleged to owe the IRS back taxes of $50,000 or more.

The specific wording of this section of the bill can be found in the linked document provided above, S. 1813, Title III, Sections 40304, 7345, and 4, on pages 1447-1452.

But the part of the bill that has gun rights activists worried is on pages 1320-1324. This subsection is entitled, “Firearms.” While the wording is in obscure legalese, it seems to be saying that the person designated as “the Secretary” is given broad powers over permits and the revocation of permits. And this power is described under the section that specifically deals with firearms.

Lawyers may debate whether or not the wording of the bill gives the IRS the power to suspend gun rights. But government watchdogs have become alarmed over the tendency of legislation to be written in such a manner as to create broad leeway for interpretation, meaning that nebulous wording often leads to an interpretation of the law that confirms the suspicions of many citizens that the federal government is relentlessly engaged in power grabs aimed at limiting the Constitutional rights of Americans.

And given that Barbara Boxer and Harry Reid are two of the most virulent anti gun activists in the Senate, gun rights activists say there is plenty of reason to be alarmed about the provisions of the bill that the two made sure were included.

STOP THE “MAP-21” BILL AUTHORIZING THE IRS TO GRAB OUR GUNS!

INCREDIBLY, BOTH Houses of Congress are gearing up to pass this disgusting encroachment on our Right to Keep and Bear Arms – We MUST stop it in its tracks before it’s too late!

Looks like the BATFE will be switching from selling guns to drug cartels to confiscating US Citizens fire arms. Not good.
