The countdown to determining our national destiny is well under way. The 2012 election is the most pivotal in our generation – and among the most critical in our history.
Every generation has the duty to pass on liberty to the next generation. Our ministries, our families and the pillars of our society and government have all been systematically undermined. The basis of this election is fundamentally simple. One vision will win – one will lose.
There is an insidious movement within our country to change America into a godless, socialist European style shell of our former greatness. In November we are challenged to change the course of our country and, indeed, history itself.
Before there was a United States of America, there was a group of colonists who were disaffected with British governmental practices and who shared a common love of liberty.
Before there was a Declaration of Independence, there were patriots, mostly Christian, whose guiding principles of life and its challenges were contained in the Bible.
Before there was an established government on this continent, there were churches and pastors, who not only ardently spoke of salvation through Jesus Christ, but about our God given right to individual freedom and responsibility.
In the 17th century American colonies, it would not be uncommon to hear sermons based upon a fundamental truth that was later fashioned into a political writing that became known as the Declaration of Independence.
“We hold these truths to be self evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed
by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are
Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness.”
Christian ministers have a higher calling to preach the truth of God’s Word. Speaking the truth is essential all the time, but it is especially important to do so when a culture has the opportunity to elect leaders who will make law and policies that affect our faith, our families and our freedoms.
Today, there is an intense struggle for the heart and soul of America. In this age of moral decline Americans look to the churches for guidance on moral and social issues. Silence is not an option.
Sadly there are socialist organizations and people who want to silence the church while “Rome burns”. There are many documented instances where these organizations have sent threatening letters to pastors, telling them that they “may not” address the views of political candidates and “may not” preach about Biblical or moral issues because they are “political,” claiming Churches could lose there tax exempt status.
These claims are false – they are scare tactics designed to silence Christian viewpoints.
