REAL ID: The Last Nail In The Coffin

001Was 9/11 the point of no return?  If not, it certainly accelerated the downfall of our once great nation.

While America has been under siege from the left since the early 1900s, it was Bush’s reaction to the terrorist attack that laid the foundation for our current malady.

First, Congress Passed the Patriot Act giving law enforcement powers to circumvent Constitutional guarantees to personal privacy and home security.

Second, Congress created the Department of Homeland Security, that quickly morphed into an army encompassing twenty-two federal agencies, that birthed state fusion centers with the intention of combining federal, state and local law enforcement into instant response teams to deal with terrorist attacks or national disasters.

Third Congress passed the REAL ID Act, promoted as an attempt to standardize the process and format for creation of all state drivers’ licenses to achieve ‘increased security.’

We have already seen the ugly side of the Patriot Act and the Department of Homeland Security.   What we have yet to see is the furtherance of the left’s agenda by the REAL ID Act.

The blue print for the REAL ID Act originated in the backrooms of a United Nations organization, the ‘International Civil Aviation Organization’ (ICAO), tasked with the goal of creating a one-size-fits-all international id system for passports which among other things, would also require a  massive data bank for storing biometric information on everyone in the world.

Focusing on passports created an international problem  since it would force our government  to accelerate and expand their surveillance plans, leading to a global surveillance system beyond what most in Congress intended.  Using the excuse that the US government wanted to learn as much about al-Qaeda as possible, the government  began to  demand that foreign governments start using the new passports  or their citizens would not be allowed to enter the US.  In addition, to compensate for lack [at that time] of a massive global surveillance system, the government demanded that every government furnish information on its citizens to a  United Nation’s clearinghouse.

Once the government realized that if other governments started furnishing names of their citizens, the US would have to reciprocate, things got a bit out of control.  But the only way for the E-passport system to work required biometric information of all the people in the world be made available to intelligence and law enforcement around the world.

Knowing US citizens would not give up their perceived privacy to other nations, the drive was on for a way to obtain biometric information on everyone in the US without revealing that the information would be furnished to every country in the world.    And what better way to obtain the needed information than to force Americans to comply through the use of a national ID.

Even with all the opposition from the left and right, Congress passed the REAL ID Act and Bush signed it into law in  May 2005.  But, because of opposition from states for another federal ‘unfunded’ mandate, implementation has been postponed twice.

If enforced, Americans will find what “being under the government’s thumb” really means.  Biometric documents will be required for nearly every action Americans take – banking, travel, purchase of goods and services, obtaining employment, obtaining health care, etc.  Every action you take will be stored in a federal database and then transferred to an international database to be shared with the world.

Once fully implemented, REAL ID will be the final nail in the coffin.  The government will have the laws, technologies and ability for the final destruction of the United States of America.

So what are the results of  this fine tuning of government power?   Are we any safer?

The fact is, with all of the biometric data bases being established, RFID chips, E-verify,  closed circuit TVs, License plate scanners, National Security Letters, State Fusion Centers, the massive NSA center, the Patriot Act and the establishment of the behemoth Department of Homeland Security, we are not any  safer than we were on the day before 9/11 but our lives are certainly a lot less private.

What we have done in the name of safety is to create an international surveillance system that will destroy the unique American system of liberty and justice while harmonizing us into the same totalitarian system that controls so much of the rest of the world.

Before REAL ID is enforced in every state through complaint drivers’ licenses, it must be stopped and we don’t have that much time left.   If we allow it to be implemented there will be no way for this generation to pass freedom to the next.  REAL ID is that great a threat!
