OMG: Obama Lied

dealAccording to Iranian  Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Marziyeh Afkham,  the White House multi-page fact sheet containing details of the draft agreement is “invalid” – a  “modified factually inaccurate primer” that contradicts the text of the Joint Plan of Action to mislead Americans.”  Image that!

Afkham said that Iran’s right to enrich uranium, the key component in a nuclear weapon, is fully recognized under the draft released by Tehran.    “This comprehensive soution would enable Iran to fully enjoy the right to nuclear energy for peaceful purposes under the relevant articles of the NPT in conformity with its obligations.”

The White House’s explanation – the usual drival – they didn’t lie, it’s just that the final plans have yet to be worked out.  Of course this means Iran is right, they can continue their nuclear enrichment program.

Obama and partners have already agreed that Iranian enrichment activity will continue indefinitely. In contrast, a long-standing U.S. demand that an underground enrichment facility be closed is not even mentioned.  The most troubling part of the deal provides for what amounts to a sunset clause.  It says the final deal will “have a
specified long-term duration to be agreed upon,” and that once that time period is complete, “the Iranian nuclear program will be treated in the same manner as that of any non-nuclear weapon state party” to the Non-Proliferation Treaty.

Translation:  Iran can look forward to a time when there will not be sanctions or restrictions on its nuclear capacity and they will be able to install an unlimited number of centrifuges and produce plutonium without violating any international accord.

So why would the White House distort the facts?  Perhaps it has to do with the deal itself.   Obama wants to release $7 billion to Iran,  suspend “certain sanctions on gold and precious metals, Iran’s auto sector, and Iran’s petrochemical exports, potentially providing Iran about $1.5 billion in revenue.  Iran could also earn another $4.2 billion in oil revenue under the deal and another $400 million in governmental tuition assistance “transferred from restricted Iranian funds directly to recognized educational institutions in other countries to defray the tuition costs of Iranian students.

It also doesn’t hurt that while removing sanctions on terrorists, he is able to add to his presidential achievements (?), further destroy America’s security, toss Israel under the bus  and hopefully divert attention from his disasterous attempts to socialize our health care system.

What could possibily go wrong?
