Firearms Are The People’s Keystone of Independence

guns“The greatest danger to American freedom is a government that ignores the Constitution.” Thomas Jefferson

For anyone who loves freedom, the U.N. Small Arms Treaty is a threat to our way of life, to our Constitution.  But it is a transparent threat – one that can be defeated.  The worse type of threat is one that languishes below the radar, a threat that isn’t anticipated, expected or seen until it’s too late.

The U.N. Inter-Agency Small Arms Control Standards Development (ISACS) is the silent threat that will be used to implement gun confiscation under the Small Arms Treaty.

The draft “Standards”, Section 3.3, National Controls over the Access of Civilians to Small Arms and Light Weapons is the U.N.’s attempt to use the Small Arms Treaty  “to improve the UN’s ability. . .and advice to member states on curbing the uncontrolled proliferation and misuse of small arms and light weapons building on previous UN initiatives. . .”

According to the UN draft “Standards”  three-quarters of all small arms in the world are in civilian possession and that  number is growing every year.  While they are willing to admit that there are legal purposes for having a firearm such as hunting, sport shooting, private security, collection as heritage items, etc. irregardless of whether a gun is owned legally or illegally, “they are misused, are a danger to children, and cause significant damage to the livelihoods, health and security of others while creating an environment of fear.”

It is that “inadequate national control over the access of civilians to small arms and light weapons” that is a contributing factor in their global, illicit trade.  And, “under international law, States are obliged to exercise due diligence in the control of private actors under their jurisdiction,” which includes “regulating civilian acess to small arms and light weapons.”

You can read Section 3.3 of the draft at this link.

Unable to get a strong Small Arms Treaty passed, the  Small Arms Control Standards Development (ISACS) will be the means to implement gun confiscation.

According to the Small Arms Treaty that John Kerry signed, the treaty can be amended with only a seventy-five percent consensus from member states (that hate freedom), easing the way for the Standards to be adopted.   Understand, that ISACS demands that “Laws, regulations and administrative procedures shall be in place at the  national level to exercise effective control over the access of civilians to  small arms and light weapons.”  This is a ‘shall do’, not a ‘may do’, for  those nations who have signed and ratified the treaty.

If ratified, the Small Arms Treaty would become legally binding, and thus any or all of the “Standards” adopted would become legally binding.   Should sufficient nations sign the treaty with any portion of Section 3.3 included, the Small Arms Treaty would become the new global norm and even if our Senate doesn’t ratify it, the U.S. could become embroiled in international law.

The U.N. Small Arms Treaty that Obama supports  is based on international humanitarian  and human rights law. The treaty as a whole is, as its supporters openly acknowledge, intended to create international norms to restrain the U.S. both by shaping the operation of the policy process and by establishing a pretended customary international law standard that will influence the deliberations of U.S. courts, which will be devastating to our ability to govern under our Constitution.

Our Founding Fathers made it clear that the Second Amendment was designed to guarantee the states militia power to balance the federal government’s military power; to promote the God given right of personal self-defense;  to enable the citizenry to repeal foreign invasion; and, most importantly, to enable the citizenry to overthrow domestic would-be tyrants.

“Before a standing army can rule, the people must be disarmed; as they are in almost every kingdom in Europe. The supreme power in America cannot enforce unjust laws by the sword; because the whole body of the people are armed, and constitute a force superior to any band of regular troops that can be, on any pretence, raised in the United States. A military force, at the command of Congress, can execute no laws, but such as the people erceive to be just and constitutional; for they will possess the power, and jealousy will instantly inspire the inclination, to resist the execution of a law which appears to them unjust and oppressive.” Noah Webster

“I ask, Sir, what is the militia? It is the whole people. To disarm the people is the best and most effectual way to enslave them.” George Mason

“And that the said Constitution be never construed to authorize Congress to infringe the just liberty of the Press, or the rights of Conscience; or to prevent the people of the United States, who are peaceable citizens, from
keeping their own arms; …”  Samuel Adams

“Firearms stand next in importance to the constitution itself. They are the American people’s liberty teeth and keystone under independence … from the hour the Pilgrims landed to the present day, events, occurences and tendencies prove that to ensure peace security and happiness, the rifle and pistol are equally indispensable … the very atmosphere of firearms anywhere restrains evil interference — they deserve a place of honor with all that’s good.”  George Washington
