“America, you better wake up now.”

2-20-14 – Glenn Beck got really fired up today over a proposed FCC plan to study newsrooms, going off on a fiery rant on how press freedom is being throttled in the U.S. and finding it beyond stunning that hardly anyone is talking about the study.  Beck called this “one of the most disturbing stories I have ever heard in my entire broadcast career,” crying, “You cannot allow the federal government into your local newsrooms!”

And to bolster his argument that the press is becoming less independent, Beck touted Robin Wright’s comments that a senior Obama official told her the press is literally in bed with sources. Beck reminded his audience that the press “used to be adversaries,” but now the media and political elites have teamed up to lecture the public about what they need to know.

“You are a worthless worm! You are too stupid to understand! The press understands because they’re the educated elite! And they will take the marching orders from the people who speak at the Council of Foreign Relations!”

Beck was stunned that the U.S. only ranks 46th in press freedom around the world, saying, “America, you better wake up now.”
