Empowering The Purveyors of Division

Businessman with Tape over MouthMany Americans were surprised to learn that recently the US Navy, prompted by the Freedom From Religion Foundation, was forcing military hotels to remove all Bibles from their rooms. Of course, once the situation was revealed to the general public, the Navy backtracked.

After 6 years plus of Obama’s open hostility to Jews, to Israel, to Christians, and Catholics, and his love of anything Islamic, it really shouldn’t be a surprise that his left-wing cronies are attempting to remove God from every walk of life. What else would you expect from a man who hangs tree ornaments of Mao Tse-Tung and a drag queen on the White House Christmas tree?

Obama has attacked religious freedom, religious symbols, refused to host National Day of Prayer at the White House, omitted references to God in quotes from our founding documents; announced that religious conscience would not be protected under ObamaCare; and required a monogram symbolizing Jesus’s name be covered while he spoke; but the biggest slap in the face to the religious community was when he nominated three pro-abortion activists as ambassadors to the Vatican. That is only a brief synopsis of his disdain for anything religious. David Barton at Wallbuilders published a 12 page guide to Obama’s acts of hostility that can be read at this link.

The Freedom From Religion Foundation is an atheist organization that worships science. According to their website, “the religious right is campaigning to raid the public till and advance religion at taxpayer expense” and “attacking nonbelievers.”   They believe that morality is human made, not ordained, therefore they reject primitive supernatural myths about God, the devil, angels, the after-life, and prayer.   They have advised people not to study the 10 commandments because they “epitomize the childish, the vindictiveness, the sexism, the inflexibility and inadequacies of the Bible as a book of morals.” They have also said that Jesus said “little that was worthwhile” and that “it would be more productive to emulate flesh and blood human beings who actually contributed to humanity.”

I personally don’t know of any religious organization that is fueling at the taxpayer pump nor are Churches that teach God’s word attacking nonbelievers. FFR’s is an affront to me, and should be to people of all religions, not because they do not believe in God, but because they don’t think we should believe or be able to practice our beliefs.   But of course, like Obama who referred to Christians as racists, “clinging to their guns and bibles,” and included them on the government’s terrorist watch list with HAMAS and al-Qaeda, FFR can’t see past their own prejudice.

FFR’s latest lawsuit proves without any doubt that the left’s goal is to drive religion and religious expression not only from the public sphere but from the pulpit, as is evidenced by their demand that the IRS monitor churches for possible violation of the Johnson Amendment, part of the IRS code that prohibits Churches from endorsing candidates from the pulpit if they want to keep their tax-free status.   Of course, the Johnson Amendment is totally ignored by Democrats (and the IRS) who use churches to push their message and candidates at every turn.

FFR also claims that the Johnson Amendment prevents pastors from discussing or preaching sermons about political issues such as abortion, gay marriage, divorce, pornography, prostitution, taxes, jobs, etc.

The IRS settled the suit by agreeing to monitor church sermons for possible violations proving without any doubt that with Obama at the helm, the left believes they have the political clout to stifle the First Amendment and shutter any church that refuses to preach the leftist gospel.

Better men than they have attempted to silence Christianity to no avail. “Why do the heathen rage. . .Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee.  Ask of me and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession.  Thou shall break them with a rod of iron; thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potter’s vessel.”  Psalms 2

They can pass all the laws they want, they can prevent us from teaching the Bible, they can sic the IRS on us, they can shutter the church doors, they can put us in prison; let them can continue their vain attempt to remove the name of God from off the face of the earth but it matters not, for they can never silence God.  I read the back of the Book, we win!

“As a nation, we must avoid the paralysis of hypersensitivity which prevents us from getting anything done because virtually everything offends someone. Liberty and Justice for all has worked extremely well for an extended period of time and there is no reason to upset the equilibrium by endowing the hypersensitive complainers in our society with more power than everyone else. By continually broadening the scope of an infringement on the rights of others, the purveyors of division will succeed in destroying our nation, but only if we continue to cater to their divisive rhetoric.” Dr. Ben S. Carson, professor emeritus of neurosurgery at John Hopki “Atheists Forgetting The Meaning of Freedom”
