Sin has become an alien concept in the minds of many, whitewashed into a bogus respectability by the social engineers of “political correctness” attempting to bring into being a pernicious plague of sexual insanity more deadly than the external threat of terrorism. America is being brought to the very brink of moral destruction.
God endowed us with reason, free-will, and a sense of responsibility. He has made us subject to His law, which is known to us by the dictates of conscience, and our acts must conform with these dictates, otherwise we sin.
Sin is the most aggressive thing known to man. It is not stagnant – it constantly moves forward in search of its next victim and its appetite is insatiable. Sin has titanic and often unrealized effects. It destroys ideals, it destroys the will. As the old adage goes: “Sow an act and reap a habit; sow a habit and reap a character; sow a character and reap a destiny.” Once sin becomes a habit, it becomes a necessity and when it becomes a necessity, the destiny is produced.
Sin is a moral evil that easily deceiving us, tricking us into justifying ourselvse, destroying all virtuous force. In his book Twilight of a Great Civilization, Carl F. Henry wrote: “there is a new barbarism. This barbarism has embraced a new pagan mentality…not simply rejecting the legacy of the West, but embracing a new pagan mentality where there is no fixed truth.
America was founded upon Christian values but unfortunately, just as previous civilizations have proceeded down the pathway of moral deterioration, American may be broaching her demise. Several thousand years of human experience and national history bear witness to this truth.
Paul lays out the path for civilization’s destruction in the first chapter of Romans. The first stage is when people turn from God to idolatry. By stage two sensuality and sexual perversion dominates society. With secularism and debauchery comes anarchy. The last and final stage is God’s judgment.
As Pastor Rick Warren reminded us last year, “ Truth, is still truth, no matter how many people doubt it. I may deny the law of gravity, but it doesn’t change gravity. And, just because we break God’s laws, does not invalidate them. A lie doesn’t become a truth, wrong doesn’t become right, and evil doesn’t become good just because it’s popular…every lie eventually crumbles under its own deception. Cultures rise and fall, they come and go, but the Word and the Church continues. History shows the majority is often wrong – remember Hitler? The dustbins of history are stuffed with conventional wisdom of cultures that proved false, and truth is not decided by a popularity contest.
The Church must never be captivated by culture, manipulated by critics, motivated by applause, frustrated by problems, debilitated by distractions or intimidated by evil. We must keep running the race with our eye on the goal, not on those shouting from the side line. We must be Spirit-led, purpose-driven and mission-focused, so that we cannot be bought, we will not be compromised, we shall not quit until we finish the race.”
Remember: Truth is truth, a sin is still a sin and the Supreme Court is not the final judge.
