Funding Anarchy: The Tides Foundation

A democracy cannot be both ignorant and free. . . Thomas Jefferson

There exists a large network of far left philanthropists and foundations working to destroy our constitutional foundation and our Christian based culture and  purposely trying to move America toward a European-style socialism.   Much of this effort is coordinated by the Tides Foundation and its related group, the Tides Center.

Co-founded in 1976 by anti-war activist Drummond Pike, the Tides Foundation is a pass through for other foundations’ money to a spectrum of left wing organizations which the original donors would not or could not support on their own.  It shelters a wide variety of leftist “social change” groups under its tax exempt status, providing management and payroll services, fundraising assistance and legal counsel.  Because they funnel money to other leftists groups who file their own Form 990 with the IRS, Tides finances are not available for public inspection.

Drummond was also co-founder of the National Network of Grantmakers, another source of funding for left wing groups.  He is treasurer for Democracy Alliance, Chairman of Endswell Foundation in Canada, Director of the Heller Family Foundation, CEO of the Tides Advocacy fund and involved with many other far left groups too numerous to mention.

Pike’s empire has grown into what is called the “Tides Family of Organizations”  run by the Tides Network, a sort of tax-exempt holding company that rules many non-profit subsidiaries.  Wade Rathke, co-founder of ACORN was a Tides director from the start and chaired Tides, Inc. until 2010 when he was forced to resign.  When Rathke embezzled a million dollars from ACORN, it was Pike who reimbursed ACORN to prevent an investigation of the group.

The Tides network has given hundreds of millions in its 35 year history to around a 100 leftist organizations who are attempting to destroy our way of life.   They are pro-homosexual, pro-abortion, anti-free market, anti-gun, anti-private property, anti-military –  groups that have done everything in their  power, including voter fraud, to destroy America as a free nation.

The Tides Center has raised between $48 and $71 million every year since 1998 while the Tides Foundation, reported revenues of between $59 and $77 million every year since 2002.   Although both groups are tax exempt and supposedly  non-partisan they have contributed over $500 million to the organized left.

Some of the groups that Tides funds include:  the Ruckus Society, a group of environmental anarchists dedicated to the violent overthrow of America;  The California Wildlands Project dedicated to placing millions of acres off limits to humans; The Natural Resources Defense   Council who defends the rights of animals and plants over the rights of humans; Greenpeace which uses illegal actions at sea that endanger humans;  The Iraq Peace Fund and the Peace Strategies Fund which in turn fund much of the anti-war movement and led to the creation of Moveon.org and the radical website IndymediaUnited for Peace and Justice headed by Communist Party member and pro-Castro apologist Leslie Cagan;  the Council for American Islamic Relations (CAIR) who are the leading front group for Islamic radicals in America;  the Democratic Justice Fund which works to ease restrictions on Muslims immigrating to the U.S. from terrorists nations;  The National Lawyers Guild which began as the legal arm of the U.S. Communist Party and still functions today as a legal support arm for terrorists and other anti-American groups; the ACLU, founded by socialists, which spends much of their time trying to remove God from America;  ACORN tied to voter fraud during the 2008 elections; and, the
Apollo Alliance who claim to have written the stimulus bill and the Cap and Trade bill that the Democratic Congress tried to ram down our throats.

The Tides Foundation is funded by the likes of George Soros who has given them more than $7 million.  Pike is treasurer for Soros’s group,  Democracy Alliance, who is a major funder of ACORN.  The Heinz Endowment led by Senator John Kerry’s wife, Teresa Heinz Kerry, has  contributed at least $8.1 million since 1994. The Ford Foundation has given them millions since 1997. Ford Motor Company also is a  contributor. The Rockefeller Foundation which has been funding the left for over 40 years is a regular contributor.   The Pew Charitable Trust, the James Irvine Foundation, Citigroup Foundation, Kellogg Foundation, the Hearst Foundation, Fannie May Foundation, the Verizon Foundation, David and Lucile Packard Foundation (Hewlett Packard) , AT&T Foundation, Bell Atlantic Foundation, the ARCO
Foundation
, the US West Foundation, the John D. MacArthur Foundation, ALCOA Foundation, Richard King Mellon Foundation, and the Carnegie Foundation are also large contributors.

These are the same networks that funded Obama’s campaign machine in 2008 and 2012.

If we lose freedom here, there is no place to escape to.  This is the last stand on Earth.”  Ronald Reagan
