Abortion – State Becomes The Grim Reaper

“We hold these truths to be self-evident: that we are endowed by our Creator with certain unalienable rights; that among these are Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness.”   Declaration of Independence, 1776

Christ died to save our souls. Amen? God ordained America to be a force for good in the world. True? American military personnel volunteer, fight and die to protect our families, and to secure our God-given rights. Correct?

Therefore, as Christians, the least we can do is live up to our citizenship responsibilities. Voting is central to fulfilling that duty, in honoring God, our military, and our families.

We see what happens when we don’t vote our conscience, if we fail to vote, or if we vote in ways that contradict our beliefs. We also see what happens when we allow government to ignore the Constitution, as in the case of courts acting like legislatures.

As a nation we have struggled with the question of abortion since the Roe v. Wade decision of 1973, a prime example of the judiciary exceeding the limits placed by the Constitution. For 44 years we have argued about abortion, and the illegitimate use of judicial power to enact law. All the king’s horses and all the king’s politicians and judges and bureaucrats, clerics and common folks, have argued and gnashed their teeth over it, for 44 long years. Even the most ardent supporters of abortion must now admit, the Court was out of line, and, according to science, the tiny person in the womb is human, not a random cluster of meaningless cells. As a human being, that little person has a God-given right to life, according to our own Declaration, and according to the heart of God revealed in the Scriptures.

Christian people have appealed to conscience for 44 years, asking people not to harden their hearts toward these small, defenseless people in the womb. And while larger majorities oppose abortion, and larger majorities still oppose public funding, hard hearts in positions of power push the death agenda, now insisting on partial birth abortion, a most gruesome, grisly procedure, the killing of a full term baby by slicing the spinal cord at the base of the brain.

Conscience allows this barbarism? Conscience affirms this in God? The dismembering of little kids is called healthcare, funded by ObamaCare!

Worse yet, a most remarkable twisting of language and logic: the post-birth abortion—the killing of a fully delivered human being, otherwise quite capable of survival, a fully developed human being looking for nourishment, warmth and love, but thanks to the Left, mere meat on the chopping block.

Where is conscience? How can anyone justify these horrific deeds?

The argument on the Left is based on human-conjured morality, that the fetus is not human until it is viable, an arbitrary judgment that must constantly be redefined. Early on, viability meant that the baby could be aborted according to conscience because it was not viable within the first three months of gestation, therefore, not human. There is no authoritative basis for this judgment. It was just plucked from thin air, for convenience. Then, the definition was shifted to within the first 6 months, now to full term and even after birth.

Today, another shift— viability means: until the person can take care of him or herself! So by the logic of the Left, and according to its ever-shifting moral universe, a person can be slaughtered at two years of age, or eight, or ten or until that person gets a job, to take care of himself. One supposes the motto is: take care of yourself or we will take care of you.

Ladies and gentlemen, we once let God inform us about life and death matters, instructing us about right and wrong, good and evil. We once voted our conscience and held legislators to their oath, to represent us honorably. We now let the state and the courts, dominated by the Left, make these judgments for us.

Conscience allows us to forsake our citizenship duty? Turning a blind eye absolves us of guilt? How does our faith permit the state to replace God?

Oregon does not have any kind of restriction on abortion: no parents are notified when young girls go to a clinic for an abortion, there are no waiting periods, no required discussions of alternatives such as adoption, no discussion of the moral dimensions of a decision to abort the child, no mention of the health risks—physical and psychological—to the mother, and no limit whatever on public funding.

Recently the governor of Oregon signed into law a measure forcing taxpayers to pay for all abortions all the time, even requiring that taxpayers pick up the bill for illegal immigrants.

The elitist governor of Oregon has made each one of us complicit in the immoral killing of innocent life.

It is estimated this action by the governor and the state will result in an additional 3,000 abortions per year. There are now about 9,000 abortions annually in Oregon, 24 killings per day. Gov. Kate Brown has increased that number substantially, spending your money, to the tune of about $12 million annually.

The machine of the state demands we all become accomplices to murder Oregon.

Did you get an opportunity to vote on this? Here is a means of challenging the state on this matter, by petition to put it to the voters in Oregon: https://www.stopthefunding.org/sign-the-petition/

May I suggest to you, before God and man, that we demand a stop to this abortion rampage?

May I further suggest that conscience requires us to stand in the gap to save these children, and vote out any public official still callous enough to support this holocaust?

May I go a step further and recommend we never again vote for any politician who supports public funding of abortion, that we never again vote for any politician who supports late term abortion or partial birth abortion, or post birth abortion, or ANY ABORTION, that we only vote for Pro-Life, Pro-Child, Pro-Morality, Pro-Conscience, Pro-Family office seekers!

The choice is crystal clear: either we engage this battle and stop this murderous practice, in the name of conscience, or we stand before a Holy God one day, with blood on our hands.
