United States Is Not the Savior of the World, Nor Is She Intended To Be

The illegal immigration fight in the United States has reached a fevered pitch. Amnesty activists believe that the United States should be the Savior of the World, the only place where people can hope to live freely. It has become so heavily protracted because the federal government has dragged its feet on enforcement and long-term solutions for the last three decades. The pillars of our culture have shamed elected officials to grant unfettered sympathy to illegal aliens in our midst.

President Trump has offered a plan that would grant legal status for 1.8 million illegals, three times the number of current DACA recipients. Yet the Democrats are balking at even this generous offer. Alzheimer’s afflicted House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi claimed that Trump’s overly-generous immigration plan amounted to “Make America White Again.” Members of her own party in both chambers of Congress condemned those insensitive, incendiary, and ultimately racist remarks.

Despite the backlash, Democratic Party is doubling down on demands for complete amnesty, without any enforcement, including a border wall. Why are they determined to blow off any otherwise generous compromise? The Democratic Party cannot last without a fresh supply of third-world peasant migration, and thus they cannot allow another pool of new voters to be blocked. These political maneuvers are nothing new for the Democratic Party. From the Civil War onward, the Democratic Party has relied on political machines which buy up the support and sympathy of new immigrant voters, granting Democrats unending dominance all over the country. One study suggests that legalizing DACA recipients will turn Texas, North Carolina, Arizona, and Georgia blue.

That’s been the plan all along. But their plan has been exposed, and it’s going to fail. President Trump has offered so much, even at the temporary risk of enraging his base, just so that he can show how out-of-touch the Democratic Party has become,

Now, I want to comment specifically on the obsessive arguments among pro-illegal and pro-amnesty factions. Their guilt-trip argument has relied on the young illegals brought into this country as children, many of whom have arguably established roots in the country and have little knowledge of the home countries of their lawbreaking parents. The fundamental talking point goes as follows: “We need to allow these children (who are actually adults) to live in this country. This is the only place where they will experience anything close to the American Dream.”

There is one problem: It is a lie that only in America can this dream come to pass. Citizens in other countries can achieve the same measure of political and economic freedom which makes prosperity possible in America. The cultural transformation in these countries process may be in the earlier, less polished stages of development, but there is nothing in the material or physical resources to prevent victory.

Why has the United States prospered so much? All of these outcomes rest on the Bible and a moral foundation vested in Judeo-Christian values.

Consider the promises outlined in the Bible for all countries which fear the LORD:

“Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD; and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance.” (Psalm 33:12)

And

“Happy is that people, that is in such a case: yea, happy is that people, whose God is the LORD.” (Psalm 144:15)

Every prosperous nation has embraced the Gospel, the good news of Christ Jesus, which includes the inherent dignity of man (and woman), along with the restful hope that one can be blessed in pursuing a worthy endeavor. Nations which have fallen away or lost sight of these blessed promises suffer and struggle, too!

Western European nations have faced cultural and economic collapse for the last 30 years. A sudden outpouring of the Gospel of Grace in these regions has resurrected hope and opportunity again. Central and Eastern European governments are now electing immigration hardliners and defending their Judeo-Christian cultures once again.

In other parts of the world, we are witnessing the power of the Gospel to awaken the citizenry to demand freedom from their oppressive governments. Iran has witnessed an unprecedented citizen uprising because of the subtle yet widespread dispensation of the Gospel throughout the country. The most ruthless dictators, the most unyielding of autocrats cannot stop the spread of the Good News:

“But if it be of God, ye cannot overthrow it; lest haply ye be found even to fight against God.” (Acts 5:39)

In China, Jesus is mentioned on social media far more than Chairman Mao. In spite of the most vicious efforts of the Chinese Communist Party to shut down unofficial churches, the spread of faith in Christ Jesus is unstoppable. Communist officials have resorted to tearing down independent churches, and in the most horrific cases, they have buried protesting congregants under the rubble.

India is enjoying unprecedented economic growth and opportunity. Why? The Gospel is being preached like never before. In Latin American countries, citizens are rising up to oppose corrupt elected officials in larger numbers. Despite the ravaging dangers of international gangs, corrupt bureaucrats, executed journalists, and fearful police chiefs who have fled for their lives to the United States, the people are rising up and fighting back.

None of this should come as a surprise for those of us. During the 1600s, the English people received an accurate translation of God’s Word, commissioned by King James 1. Twenty years later, they rebelled against the “divine” autocracy of his son Charles, which ushered in a Republic, then a constitutional monarchy.

Because God’s Son through His Word and Grace has so transformed these nations, there is no reason for American citizens to accept the guilt trips induced by open border and amnesty advocates. Illegals in this country, regardless of their age, can survive and thrive in any other country in the world. If they trust in God’s grace, they need not fear what man may do to them (Psalm 118:6). Americans should scorn the shame of amnesty panders, who demand full legalization of illegal aliens. They can stand on the truth that every man can have their dreams come true in their home countries. The United States is not the Savior of the World, and never intended to be. Every foreign national can rest on His grace and truth in their home countries.
