“Today, we face incredibly well-funded gangs of fundamentalist Christian monsters who terrorize their fellow Americans by forcing their weaponized and twisted version of Christianity upon their helpless subordinates in our nation’s armed forces. . . These days, when ANYone attempts to bravely stand up against virulent religious oppression, these monstrosities cry out alligator tears in overflowing torrents and scream that it is, in fact, THEY who are the dispossessed, bereft and oppressed. C’mon, really, you pitiable unconstitutional carpetbaggers? It would be like the utter folly of 1960’s-era southern bigots howling like stuck pigs in protest that Rosa Parks’ civil rights activism is “abusing” them by destroying and disenfranchising their rights to sit in the front seat of buses in Montgomery, Alabama. Please, I beseech you! Let us call these ignoble actions what they are: the senseless and cowardly squallings of human monsters.”
That little anti-Christian tirade was brought to you via Mike Weinstein, head of the Military Religious Freedom Foundation (MRFF) in an article on – what else – the Huffington Post. The MRFF is a far left organization who claims to be “a weapon, whose job is to kick ass, take names, lay down a withering field of fire, and leave sucking chest wounds on this unconstitutional heart of darkness, if you will, this imperious fascistic contagion of unconstitutional triumphalism.”
Weinstein also claims to be a conservative Republican in the Barry Goldwater tradition, who fully endorses the ultra-left Southern Poverty Law Center’s and their list of “hate groups” that include traditional Christian organizations,along side truly deplorable organizations like the KKK. He is also a big fan of Lt. Col. Jack Rich, the Army officer who wrote to subordinate officers that soldiers who hold traditional Christian beliefs agreeing with organizations on SPLC’s “hate group” list are incompatible with “Army values” and should be carefully watched and excluded from military service.
Weinstein’s assault is not personal – it’s a fundamentalist Christian versus the Constitution war – a war with evangelical Christians, a small subset of Christianity, about 38 million Americans – the Premillennial, Dispensational, Reconstructionist Dominionists, Fundamentalist Evangelical Christians – who believe they have an unlimited right to push their particular biblical worldview (the gospel of Jesus Christ) irrespective of time, place and manner, the Constitution or laws. He just feels that it is his job to protect all Americans against the “frightening prospect” that our military, “the most lethal organization ever created by humankind,” should fall into the hands of the “Christian Taliban.” After all, according to Weinstein, evangelical Christians are responsible for the “Holocaust, the Inquisition, the Crusades, the Black Plague…”
You might remember Weinstein from his intervention to protect terrorist from islamophobia. Trijicon, the maker of the ACOG gun sight, was known for putting an abbreviated Bible verse reference on the end of its serial numbers. When Weinstein found out, he claimed that Islamic terrorists were offended when they were shot by rifles with these scopes, and demanded the Army remove them. According to the military, the letters and numbers were scraped off, and soldiers were directed to use apply black paint to ensure the verses were totally covered. Now we can kill terrorists without insulting them – how nice of Weinstein to think of that!
This is also the man that the “Obama” Pentagon asked to be a consultant in the development of new policies on religious tolerance, including a policy for court-martialing military chaplains who dared to share the Christian Gospel during spiritual counseling of American troops. Inviting someone as vile as Weinstein who compared Christians to Neo-Nazis and Christianity to rape is an insult to millions of Americans, but, when you consider that, under the Obama administration, the Department of Home Land Security had Christians on a “watch list” of potential terrorists, what else should we expect.
Christianity and Christian religious practices are under attack. In the U.S. the so-called “separation of church and state” is being used to marginalize Christian prayer and traditions, while, at the same time, dramatically accommodating and even expanding Muslim religious practices.
It’s one thing to disagree with another person’s ideology but it is quite another to participate in an event for the sole purpose of denying others access to that same support and religious liberty.
