Call it group think, collective guilt, public culpability or social sins; unless you and I are both part of a lynch mob, you are not guilty for my sins and I am not guilty for yours.
No complicity – no culpability.
How do we know this?
If You Play the One Up Card – You Will Lose
First, we must consider that there is a strong penchant for playing the one up card when it comes to society’s collective bad behaviors.
Example, while tearing down cities across the country in protest of George Floyd’s death, as unfair as it was, where is any voice, one voice, to decry the 900, on average, black babies that are aborted, every day, day after day and year after year?
Science worshippers can’t seem to discern when life begins, even though they presume to tell us how life first appeared about 50 billion years before they took their first breath.
If they watched an abortion of a black baby would they not be just as sickened by such a horrible death?
They would see first, that it is black, and then they would see a needle placed in its brain or a scalpel chopping its little arms and legs to bits, or some salt (saline) solution burning it as it squirmed in pain and agony.
Where is the protest, the riot, the call for justice about this portent of murder and human indifference?
There is none you say?
You would be right.
There is plenty of hypocrisy here, but not much else.
The bottom line is this, if we insist on going for a one up play, the millions of black George Floyds’ that have been killed since the inception of Roe v, Wade 1973, far outweigh the death of one black and the riotous response that followed it in Minneapolis.
That card now played, all we are likely to see is – more negative reactions and resentment.
We have settled nothing.
The Left Says We Are all Guilty – No Exclusions!
Writing for the Federalist, author Joshua Lawson asks the question, “So why are so many people acting as if it were their knee, not Derek Chauvin’s, that pressed down on George Floyd? The answer lies in the concerted effort of radical leftists and their unwitting accomplices to normalize the collectivization of guilt.”
In an article entitled “The Left’s Normalization of Collective Guilt is Ripping America Apart” Lawson says, “Leftist influencers have convinced millions of Americans that the only way they will be allowed in polite society, the only way they will be perceived as decent is if they accept culpability for Floyd’s death and the “systemically racist society” they apparently helped create.”
Most Americans refuse to accept the guilt for one very good reason – they are not guilty for what one bad police officer did on the streets of Minneapolis.
This is a because, no one is guilty for what another person has done.
Stephan Stone of Renew America says “Police violence is nothing new. Death by overzealous policing is common, but not as common as media might imply. When you crunch the numbers, you find that such deaths are statistically rare, and the numbers of such deaths have been on decline for many years. Even as our national population grows, the statistics indicate the number of black people killed by police continues to decline, whereas deaths of white people killed in the same way is statistically flat-lined.”
And yet, he like all of the rest of us know that when people are suffering statistics make a very poor consolation. Stone says, “These are just facts, but statistical facts do nothing for those who die or for their families and friends.”
Who is Guilty for What – Really?
It may be a mystery to most of those in this scripturally deficient and Biblically ignorant generation, but according to the bible, we are only guilty for our own sins. It is quite clear.
“The person who sins will die. The son will not bear the punishment for the father’s iniquity, nor will the father bear the punishment for the son’s iniquity; the righteousness of the righteous will be upon himself, and the wickedness of the wicked will be upon himself.” (Ezekiel 18:20)
Guilt is always and only used by men to control other men; God uses guilt to correct men and keep them from destroying themselves.
Unless you took part in George Floyd’s death, owned slaves or just decided to hate people of color because they are people of color, you are guilty of nothing and you are not a racist.
Who could have seen that the generation that denies it is sinful, immoral and perverted in ways that would make the ancient cities of Sodom and Gomorrah blush, has now decided that the whole world is guilty of racism?
As for this writer, I was disgusted when I watched the video of George Floyd with a cop’s knee on his neck. But I am not that cop and as it turns out I am quite satisfied that I was born white and I will never apologize for that.
I will go on confessing my sins to my God, but being white is not one of them.
Sorry lefties, you will have to go knock on someone else’s door.
