Around this time of year, with so many solicitations from charitable organizations, we are often hard-pressed to find a charity compatible with our values. It is not enough to give blindly – as Christians we have a moral obligation to know how our donations are used.
I stopped supporting the Salvation Army when in 2007 I discovered that their International Social Justice Commission was in bed with the UN on the global warming scam, social justice and human rights. Human Rights, to the UN, includes the unrestricted obligation of member states to sanction a woman’s right to murder her unborn child; and, social justice includes the redistribution of wealth, both Marxists ideas. I even asked the local Salvation Army Commander how they could call themselves a Christian organization and support Marxism.
To make matters even worse, if that is possible, The Salvation Army has joined in the herd mentality of corporations and universities by imposing Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) training on their employees and volunteers.
DEI is a racist philosophy that advocates for the destruction of the nuclear family and new forms of segregation. The traditional definition of racism: the stereotyping, denigrating, marginalizing, or excluding of persons on the basis of race has now been redefined as the marginalization and/or oppression of people of color based on a socially constructed racial hierarch that privileges white people.
It is now impossible, by definition, for white people to be the victims of racism. The definition itself constructs a “racial hierarchy” whereby only people of color may be victimized, and only “white people” may marginalize or oppress.
Paid staff and volunteers are being bullied into attending “unconscious bias” training led by so-called experts in the field such as Dominique Gillard. For those not familiar with Gillard, he is the Director of Racial Righteousness and Reconciliation for the Evangelical Covenant Church and author of Rethinking Incarceration: Advocating for Justice that Restores.
Gillard believes that America has failed to uproot “white supremacy” and “systemic racism” and pushes the idea in his book that the confinement of Blacks has always been a way for Whites to maintain dominion.
Last year, a Salvation Army initiative, Let’s Talk About Racism, that outlined the Church’s supposed racial collusion was presented as a means to fight racism using Critical Race Theory. The book went so far as to accuse white Salvationists of being unable or unwilling to acknowledge their racism. Sections of the program included police brutality, health care and black unemployment, etc. all linked to “racial inequity.”
The program suggested that white people within the organization “lament, repent and apologize” for biases or racist ideologies held and actions committed.” It also told people to stop being “color blind” because it would allegedly ignore the things that God intended to be different among cultures.
Employees and volunteers were told that “structural racism” was the “overarching system of racial bias” across institutions and society that “gave privileges to White people resulting in disadvantages to blacks.”
After quite a few complaints from donors, the Salvation Army moved “Let’s Talk About Racism” from the first page of their International Social Justice Commission site to a less visible page – “Resources,” hoping the controversy would just go away.
Christians are generous people but why would you want to give donations to any organization that believes you are a bigot based on the color of your skin? “That is not Christian orthodoxy – its political rhetoric at its finest” wrote Charles DeJesus of the Salvation Army’s western territory in a public Facebook post last year.
Words are powerful tools, but actions send a message that is loud and clear.
