Islamic fanatics wielding meat cleavers butchered and then tried to behead a British soldier, taking their war on the West to a new level of horror.
A young serviceman, near a primary school, was hit by a car and crushed into a road sign on the street in south-east London before he was brutally attacked with a collection of weapons that included meat cleavers and knives. While not in uniform, the young man was wearing a t-shirt with the army charity ‘Help for Heroes’ logo and carried a military issue rucksack.
Throughout the frenzied attack both killers shouted ‘Allah Akbar’ – Arabic for ‘God is great’ – then demanded horrified witnesses film them as they ranted over the crumpled body while calmly waiting for the police to arrive.
In footage, obtained by The Sun, one of the terrorists spoke directly into the camera bragging about the horrific attack boasting the public and their “children” were targets of extremists. He said: “We swear by almighty Allah we will never stop fighting you…Your people will never be safe. You think David Cameron is going to get caught in the street when we start busting our guns you think politicians are going to die? No it’s going to be the average guy, like you, and your children.”
Omar Bakri, a Syrian-born Islamist cleric banned from Britain in 2005, taught one of the men. Bakri founded a now banned British Islamist group – Al Muhajiroun. “When I saw the footage I recognized the face immediately. I used to know him. . . What surprised me (is) the quiet man, the man who is very shy, decided to carry out an attack against a British soldier in the middle of the day in the middle of a street in the UK. It’s incredible. . .”But we are going to be in power soon… Don’t think that we sleep on our grievances. The prophet (Mohammad) said an infidel and his killer will not meet in Hell. That’s a beautiful saying. May God reward (Adebolajo) for his actions. If you breach the covenant of security with Muslims you are digging your grave. I cannot condemn what Michael did. I don’t see it as a crime as far as Islam is concerned.”
Taking his cue from Obama, London mayor, Boris Johnson said “it is completely wrong to blame this killing on Islam but also wrong to draw a link between this murder and British foreign policy. The fault lies with the warped mind-set of those who did it and for the sake of the victim and his family the killers need to be brought to justice.”
