Another Reason NOT to Sign Up for Obamacare – Identity Theft

Kathleen Sebelius admits that convicted felons could be hired as ObamaCare “navigators,” giving them access to the personal information of those signing up. Some might already be on the job.

Health and Human Services Secretary Sebelius made the admission Wednesday in an exchange with Sen. John Cornyn during a Senate Finance Committee hearing.

The Texas Republican asked if it’s true that there’s no requirement for navigators to undergo a criminal background check and that felons, including those convicted of crimes such as identity theft, could be given access to our most private financial and medical information.

“This is possible,” said Sebelius.

It’s bad enough that the ObamaCare enrollment website’s security features have not been adequately tested. Allowing taxpayer data to be given to criminals over the phone is unconscionable.

Last month, the Daily Caller unearthed the case of Rosilyn Wells, director of outreach and enrollment for the Heartland Community Health Center and “the only full-time Affordable Care Act navigator in Lawrence (Kansas),” according to the Lawrence Journal-World. Interestingly, Sebelius used to be governor of Kansas.

As the Daily Caller reported, Wells was certified as an ObamaCare navigator despite her financial history, which included a bankruptcy in 2003, a 2007 civil charge from a local check-cashing business for writing a bad check, being more than $1,700 behind on her state tax bill and having an outstanding arrest warrant in nearby Shawnee County on an unspecified charge.

Not exactly the kind of person we would want to trust our private data to.
