Goverment Fakes Unemployment Figures

ob2The New York Post  reports that in the final weeks of the 2012 presidential campaign, the drop in the unemployment rate from 8.1% to 7.8% was manipulated, a nice way of saying falsified.

A full  two years before the presidential election, the Census Bureau caught an employee, Julius Buckmon, fabricating data that went into the unemployment report, which is one of the most closely watched measures of the economy.  A knowledgeable source claims the deception went well beyond Buckman – it escalated while Obama was running for reelection in 2012 and the numbers are still being faked.

Buckmon told the Post he was told by “higher-ups” to fake the numbers.  “It was a phone conversation — I forget the exact words — but it was, ‘Go ahead and fabricate it’ to make it what it was.” .

Buckmon said he filled out surveys for people he couldn’t reach by phone or who didn’t answer their doors. And even though he was never told how to answer the employment question for these “nonexistent” people, simply by creating people and filling out surveys in their name would boost the number of people reported as employed.

Census never publicly disclosed the falsification, nor did it inform Labor that its data was tainted.   It also appears they only looked at a handful of instances where Buckmon falsified job numbers even though more than a dozen instances were reported.

Falsifying employment data served its purpose – helping to reelect Obama.  Continuing to falsify unemployment numbers also serves Obama’s purpose – it hides the real state of the economy.

“Clear, overt, knowing and callous regard for their own rules and standards is commonplace in our government. Presidents, Senators, Representatives, Judges, Civil servants and others bound by the two codes in effect violate the rules on a daily basis. The code of silence and its complement, do not point a finger at a violator, or else, are the prevailing status quo. Acceptable seems to be anything with which one can get away undetected by an outsider. That approximately Ten Square Mile area known as Washington, DC is a veritable cesspool of all manner of nefarious  behavior.”  Tom Davis
