Hamas celebrates missile attack that murdered 16-year-old in 2011

Hamas released a new propaganda video aimed at Israelis on Al Aqsa TV this week. As reported by Palestinian Media Watch, the video celebrates the murder of a 16 year-old Israeli boy in a Hamas attack on a school bus by an anti-tank missile perpetrated by the terrorist group in 2011.

The video (see below) begins by asking Israelis in Hebrew, “Do you remember?” It shows Israeli ambulance personnel carrying the boy, Daniel Viflic, on a stretcher, and ends with the threat: “We will hunt you down in your dens.”

The targeting of civilians – especially children – is considered a violation of the international laws of war according to the fourthGeneva Convention, Part II.

Last week, during an interview on Palestinian Authority TV, the Palestinian Representative to the UN Human Rights Council, Ibrahim Khreisheh, confirmed that missiles being fired by Hamas at Israeli civilians, are “crimes against humanity.”

“The missiles that are now being launched against Israel – each and every missile constitutes a crime against humanity whether it hits or misses, because it is directed at a civilian targets,” Khreisheh said. “…targeting civilians – be it one civilian or a thousand – is considered a crime against humanity.”

When pushed by his interviewer about to take Israel to the International Criminal Court, Khreisheh continued, explaining that Israel has followed international law by warning civilians before an attack to give them time to evacuate.

“Please note that many of our people in Gaza appeared on TV and said that the Israeli army warned them to evacuate their homes before the bombardment,” Khreisheh said. “In such a case, if someone is killed, the law considers it a mistake rather than an intentional killing, because [the Israelis] followed the legal procedures. As for the missiles launched from our side… We never warn anyone about where these missiles are about to fall, or about the operations we carry out.”
