A new report on the status of American military morale is out and it’s definitely not good news for the safety of our country. The left has yet to figure out that you can’t buy optimism, it has to be created and with Obama’s attacks on faith and values that once inspired our military, no positive psychology mumbo jumbo can undo the damage.
According to USA Today, more than half of some 777,000 soldiers are pessimistic about their future in the military and nearly as many are unhappy in their jobs, despite the government spending $287 million to convince the troops that Obama’s social experiment is working. Typical of the left ’s tendency to never address a real a problem, Sharyn Saunders, chief of the Army Resiliency Directorate that produced the data, has decided the results were flawed because the formula used to produce the results are obsolete. It’s the same process they use to hide real unemployment numbers and the true state of the economy.
Obama has never supported the U.S. military, taking every opportunity to humiliate and endanger U.S. troops which goes a long way toward explaining why his approval rating among the military in January of this year stood at 15%. From calling the terrorist attack on Fort Hood workplace violence, to his famous crotch salute honoring fallen veterans, or the decision to send pink slips to soldiers overseas on active duty, Obama never misses an opportunity to show his disdain.
Killing Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell, was only the first of many steps in Obama’s systematic destruction of the US military. He soon thereafter announced that, in his humble opinion, the Defense of Marriage Act was unconstitutional giving the Pentagon permission to begin paying full military benefits to same-sex couples and requiring military chaplains to perform same-sex marriage. And now that Obama has given his legal protection to the gender confused, the Pentagon is reassessing the policy of not letting them serve. Trust me, that “reassessment” won’t take long. The ACLU has already filed suit on behalf of a gender confused soldier and the Army has washed their hands of the matter by giving decision making authority over to a senior civilian appointee Debra Wade who is assistant secretary of the Army for Manpower. The other branches will fall in line.
The Pentagon now, in their infinite wisdom, allows gay soldiers to wear their uniforms while marching in gay pride parades and in 2014, had a full military guard march in the D.C. gay pride parade. Then there is that little problem of male on male rape which according to the Daily Mail, UK is reaching epidemic proportions. “When a man enters the military he is 10 times more likely to be raped.”
Sexual assault is alarmingly common in the U.S. military, and more than half of the victims are men. According to the Pentagon, 38 military men are sexually assaulted every single day. These are the stories you never hear because the culprits almost always go free, the survivors rarely speak, and no one in the military or Congress had done enough to stop it.
In a GQ article, more than a dozen veterans and current servicemen told of their sexual assaults and how the military institution failed time and time again to bring their predators to justice or to get them the help they needed. The power structure within the military makes these attacks more prevalent because men in lower ranks may find it hard to report their attackers if they are superiors. So, when the men aren’t silencing themselves, the military is doing it for them by discharging victims for misdiagnosed personality disorders and letting their attackers continue to serve.
Christians are leaving the military or are discouraged from joining in the first place because of a hostile work environment that doesn’t let them express their beliefs openly. Military chaplains who still profess traditional Christian beliefs are being forced to go through reeducation programs espousing the joys of Obama’s homosexual agenda. Those who refuse to disavow their faith are facing punishment and loss of their military careers. Douglas Lee, president of the Chaplain Alliance for Religious Liberty, whose job it is to find people who want to be military chaplains said that the growing religious hostility is making it harder for him to not only find new recruits but maintain the chaplains they already have.
On January 29, 2014, Lt. Gen. William Boykin (Ret.) testified before the House Subcommittee on Military Personnel that “a growing trend in the military reveals a remarkable disregard for what have been assumed as basic religious liberties of service members in the past.” While changes in the Defense Department’s Accommodation of Religious Practices, which went into effect on January 22, say that “the DoD places a high value on the rights of members of the Military Services to observe the tenets of their respective religions or to observe no religion at all….,” discrimination, denial of promotion or assignment happens every day. Some service members have been chastised for even displaying religious objects such as a picture or Bible on their desk. While under the Military Code of Discipline service members still retain First Amendment Rights, but the exercise of those rights in today’s military will kill your military career.
“If you are a Bible-believing Christian, there is no place for you in Barack Obama’s version of the U.S. military. Christian service members all over the nation are being disciplined for reading their Bibles, talking about their faith publicly and encouraging others to live a moral lifestyle. And, just saying the name of “Jesus,” at the wrong place or the wrong time, while serving in the military is enough to spark a national controversy. We live at a time when political correctness in America is wildly out of control, and thanks to Obama the U.S. military has become one of the most politically correct institutions in our society.” Michael Snyder
