In 1801 Noah Webster explained that a high level of morality was necessary in the Presidency. “All history is a witness of the truth of the principle that good morals are essential to the faithful and upright discharge of public functions. The moral character of a man is an entire and indivisible thing, it cannot be pure in one part and defiled in another…..The love of virtue first yields to the strongest temptation; but when the rampart [resistance] is broken down, it is rendered more accessible to every successive assailant… Corruption of morals is rapid enough in any country without a bounty [an encouragement] from government. And… the Chief Magistrate of the United States [the President] should be the last man to accelerate its progress.
Americas once understood that the quality of government was dependent upon the quality and character of its leaders. The set of moral character to which an individual or a nation adheres can either unite it or destroy it. “Reputation is the shadow; character is the tree,” according to Abraham Lincoln. Our character is much more than just what we try to display for others to see. It is doing the right thing even when no one is watching.
Unfortunately, the Obama administration will be forever known as the Dark Ages of America’s history, a time of political cultural and economic deterioration. According to Lawrence Sellin, Ph.D., during the Obama years, the lie became not only a campaign strategy or a means to enact damaging policies, but an institution of government; the Presidency itself, a lie of monstrous proportions guarded by the complicit and the willingly ignorant, aka the useful idiots.
Congress has clearly demonstrated that although we have elections, there is no longer a government representing its citizens, but an entity serving itself, operating outside of Constitution constraints and unaccountable to the American people.
Disseminating either disinformation or no information, a devoted media helped create the intellectual darkness and vacant servitude required to carry out the strategy of their leftist Messiah; a country without any sense of its own history and traditions, where the low information voter would slouch towards Obama’s imaginary utopia through a combination of governmental coercion and the hedonist nihilism of a painless, amusement-sodden, and stress-free America managed by the nanny state.
During the Obama years, we have seen the resurrection of the economic feudalism of the Dark Ages, a system dominated by wealthy special interests that inhibit the upward mobility of the poor and middle class. We have witnessed the rise of Islamic hegemony and violence, the infiltration of the government by the Muslim Brotherhood and the promotion of Sharia law in our schools and judicial system.
Obama came to office inexperienced, but armed with a dangerously subversive anti-American agenda designed to undermine the Constitution and the uniqueness and sacredness of the individual, where, through the exercise of his or her reason, one can discern the means necessary to secure life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, unmediated by mullahs or government bureaucrats. And, unless we undertake a thorough exposition of who Obama really is, what his true agenda his, what forces made his unprecedented rise to power possible and who has conspired to hide the truth, an American Renaissance will not be forthcoming.
We are in a new Dark Age. Either we produce a Renaissance, a rebirth of the fundamental principles upon which America was founded or our Republic dies. You can read “An American Renaissance,” by Lawrence Sellin, Ph.D. in full at this link.
“When the Constitution is violated, when it is corrupted by the very people who swore an oath to uphold it, our entire system of governance, of laws, and of justice is corrupted.” Frederic Bastiat, 1850
