Sin has been with us since the fall of Adam and Eve, humans are corrupt, bankrupt and completely fallen and unable to deliver themselves. All generations find sins and sinners in varying degrees both repetitive and of irregular occasion, in every country, in every type of civil system of government. Societies have come and gone through the ensuing centuries, man in all ages of the earth have committed sins, practiced sins, but often they have gone so far as to condone sin. This latter is where a people, a country finds itself in trouble with God Jehovah, the Sovereign of the universe.
Up to the point where the individuals of society sin, God allows that nation to go onward, but when it organize and legalizes sin, it is then that God keeps His promise; this Holy pledge made so along ago it is overlooked, even by many in the Church.
(Leviticus 18:27-28) (For all these abominations have the men of the land done, which were before you, and the land is defiled;) That the land spue not you out also, when ye defile it, as it spued out the nations that were before you.
Nation after nation has fallen during the last few thousand years, The Canaanites, the citizens of Sodom and Gomorrah, the Romans and sundry others. These, had in common, the writing of sin into law. Thereby, making what was at one time considered unmentionable (and against the law in most civilized countries) in public discourse, acceptable and justifiable. God’s warning was clear in the following verse: (Leviticus 18:3) After the doings of the land of Egypt, wherein ye dwelt, shall ye not do: and after the doings of the land of Canaan, whither I bring you, shall ye not do: neither shall ye walk in their ordinances. The key word is ordinances, meaning statutes. This is primary to our understanding of blessing and cursing. For as surely as there is a curse for establishing sinful statutes, there is a reward from God for incorporating His law into the laws of country.
England, and many of the European nations had laws which were in keeping with the law of God’s Word. The United States of America sought laws that were founded upon the God’s justice. But in this last sixty years or more there has been decline in those, Godly laws. Then once removed, statutes which either protected or promoted sin started to rise in our nation. Abortion, added by the Supreme Court, also homosexual marriage by the Supreme Court, adultery and fornication became legal and divorce became easy. Gambling, prostitution pornography and every manner of vile pursuit have been approved by society at large. (Psalms 94:20) Shall the throne of iniquity have fellowship with thee, which frameth mischief by a law?
Is America being judged by God? Of course she is! But, as with the Amorites, the iniquity of the United States is not yet full: (Genesis 15:16) But in the fourth generation they shall come hither again: for the iniquity of the Amorites is not yet full. How close is this nation to our iniquity being full, only God knows? We must, as Christians seek God. And every sound-minded individual who is intellectually honest regarding the direction of our country, must seek out men and women of a Conservative nature, who will lead to legislate righteous laws. Pastors, teachers, preachers, evangelists must proclaim without worry of offense, the whole counsel of God’s Word. If we are to turn the tide, if America is the be great again, she must have righteous laws; the United States cannot be great until she is under the Grace of Christ again.
The road our country is on is a dangerous one, a wide path she trods, with peril on every hand. And without the guidance of God Almighty, she is destined to fail, completely as the Amorites (Canaanites), Sodom and Gomorrah, Rome, and all the rest of the vapid, narcissistic, self-seeking, self-indulging sin-plagued nations who have self-inflicted their own ruin.
God will guide, and lead us on a road less traveled, but we must seek His Face, we must obey His statutes, we must forsake the patently evil road we are on and change directions, once again calling upon His Holy Name. Otherwise, we will find this nation being vomited out by the very land she sits on.
(Leviticus 18:24-25) Defile not ye yourselves in any of these things: for in all these the nations are defiled which I cast out before you: And the land is defiled: therefore I do visit the iniquity thereof upon it, and the land itself vomiteth out her inhabitants.
