“My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee. . .” Hosea 4:6
We’ve forgotten our past. We’ve forgotten the foundational principles of our country. We’ve forgotten what it means to be free. And those in Washington D.C. are counting on that forgetfulness to ram through unconstitutional mandates and usurpations to liberty that affect us on the most basic levels.
We’re currently having a vicious debate on gun control which is extremely polarized. The left, who outwardly wish for more gun control while secretly demanding gun confiscation, claim we don’t need certain types of weapons for hunting, sports, or self-defense. Those who believe the 2nd Amendment to the Constitution guarantees the unreserved right to keep and bear arms point out that the Founding Fathers inserted this clause to prevent the rise of tyranny from our government which always comes about in every country, no matter how free they are upon their founding.
The reason for the 2nd Amendment is to defend against the very government that is currently trying to do away with one of the pillars of the Constitution. But the Constitution be Damned!
“Are we at last brought to such humiliating and debasing degradation, that we cannot be trusted with arms for our defense? Where is the difference between having our arms in possession and under our direction and having them under the management of Congress? If our defense be the real object of having those arms, in whose hands can they be trusted with more propriety, or equal safety to us, as in our own hands?” Patrick Henry.
As the battle rages, the current Democratic candidates for the presidential election have voiced their own opposition to the 2nd Amendment. Joe Biden, former V.P. under Obama has labeled gun manufacturers as the enemy and gone on record to say he would conduct confiscation of sporting rifles under the guise of buyback programs. Senate Kamala Harris says that if Congress refuses to do so, she would institute gun control by executive order.
Congressman Eric Swalwell of Connecticut has called for mass confiscation. Senator Amy Klobuchan of Minnesota claims that a “forced” buyback scheme to take 16 million privately owned sporting rifles isn’t confiscation as long as the government “makes an offer.” Senator Kirsten Gillibrand of N.Y. promised as president she would prosecute gun owners who refused to participate in a “mandatory” buyback program.
If that doesn’t explain the need for the 2nd Amendment, nothing does!
The left isn’t stupid. They are arrogant, manipulative, calculating, and elitist but most definitely not stupid. They count on the ignorance of the population because they have controlled the public school system for well over a century where they have been more than adept at infiltrating, brainwashing and indoctrinating successive generations of children into believing that this great experiment in self-government has been an abject failure in the highest moral and physical sense.
They have convinced several generations that there is no transcendent law, that we can spend our way into oblivion and somehow come out, not only with a balanced budget, but a surplus budget. They have convinced the voters that the government is the benefactor of all that is good and just in the world, while the peasants just doesn’t have the intellectual capacity to govern themselves.
It is a position of hubris that has no basis in reality, yet they are increasingly successful in everything they do and every position that they put forth because today’s generations have been indoctrinated and dumbed down by revisionist history to believe that the U.S. is evil and only socialism will save us.
“If men could learn from history, what lessons it might teach us! But passion and party blind our eyes and the light which experience gives us is a lantern on the stern which shines only on the waves behind.” Samuel Taylor Coleridge
