Given the dishonesty and lack of moral principles many of our elected and some of the candidates display, It is clear that we are not only in a spiritual battle for the soul of Virginia but also in a related political battle for control of our national destiny.
Voters who think only of themselves, who do not take into account that their vote affects the kind of future their children and grandchildren will inherit, are both politically shortsighted and morally obtuse. The right to vote requires each of us to bring our best judgment to bear on matters that will affect the future of our Commonwealth.
On November the 5th, we are being asked to elect 40 Senators and 100 Delegates to represent us in the General Assembly. As it stands now, the Assembly is almost evenly split with Republicans holding a razor thin one vote majority in both the Senate and the House. Moreover the two parties are polarized on nearly every core family value issue that is important to Virginia families.
This election will have an impact on how congressional and state legislative district lines will be redrawn after the 2020 Census. If one party is able to gain control over both chambers and the governorship, it will redraw the current lines in ways that would expand their party’s voting power for decades.
The Northam administration is attempting to bring Virginia under the control of the National Democratic Party agenda.
There are a large number of gun control measures pushed by Democrats that include but are not limited to: Red Flag Laws, eliminating gun shows, forcing background checks on the sale or gifting of a gun between private citizens, instituting a one handgun a month rule, banning assault rifles and any gun that holds more than 10 rounds.
Abortion is violence, perpetrated by the powerful against the weakest and most innocent among us. Northam and his band of cronies are pushing for the right to murder an unborn child up to the moment of birth. When discussing children that are alive after a failed abortion Northam is quoted as saying: “if a mother is in labor…the infant would be delivered and kept comfortable. The infant would be resuscitated if that is what the mother and the family desired, and then a discussion would ensue between the physician and mother.” This discussion, of course, would determine whether the baby is allowed to live.
I actually don’t know what is the most disturbing – the fact that Northam would even consider that a child should be put to death or the fact that he actually calls them an infant while talking about whether or not to snuff out their life.
While promising to support legislation outlawing sanctuary cities in Virginia, Northam actually vetoed one that passed both chambers of the Assembly. In addition Northam turned down hundreds of thousands of dollars in federal money used to combat gun crime in 2018. Apparently having to work with immigration authorities to find and deport illegals, mostly gang members, isn’t as important to Northam as the Democratic Party agenda of open borders.
There are numerous other left-wing causes that Democrats want to force upon Virginians that include raising the minimum wage to $15 an hour, ending Virginia’s Right-to-work laws, and passing a carbon tax that will raise the cost of goods and services on every item used or purchased in Virginia, all based on the left-wing climate scam, ad nauseam.
Dietrich Bonhoeffer once made an observation that fits the situation nicely: “If I sat next to a madman as he drives his car into a group of innocent bystanders, I can’t, as a Christian, simply wait for the catastrophe, then comfort the wounded and bury the dead. I must try to wrestle the steering wheel out of the hands of the driver.”
And that is exactly what we must do November 5 – wrestle the steering wheel out of the hands of the Democratic Party who wish to turn Virginia into California. And we must start by preventing them from taking control of the Virginia General Assembly.
