A Few Fries Short of a Happy Meal

The United States is struggling to cope with the proliferation of dangerous perverts, drug addicts, psychotics and idiots. We are in a grip of a major crisis – a shortage of normal people, especially among the under 30 demographic. And evidence indicates that this population of kooks and freaks is rapidly increasing and there are not enough sane people to keep them under control.

For example, in 2016, a student at Columbia urge the school to inject more diversity into its required courses because she had suffering ‘severe emotional trauma’ from reading too many books by and about white people.  In order to give her demand serious consideration,  Columbia put together a panel of faculty and students to discuss “Race, Ethnicity, and University Life.” One panelist, a black student that should have graduated to years earlier claimed that her academic troubles were caused because she was forced to take Columbia’s Core Curriculum, which required students to take a series of six classes with a focus on culture and history of Western- European civilization.   These classes were “traumatizing” to sit through because they requires her to “look at history through the lens of powerful, white men,” and, as an “angry black woman” she didn’t fit in.

Perhaps she was an “angry black woman” because she realized she wasn’t smart enough to be at Columbia.  Let’s be clear about something – if you can afford to attend Columbia you are not an oppressed victim of society.

Any student attending an elite university who believes that they are being “traumatized” by the curriculum is delusional, demented, mad, wacky, off their rocker and a few fries short of a Happy Meal.   Yet, everything written by “powerful white men” such as Aristotle, Cicero, Augustine, Shakespeare, Hume, Locke, Madison, Burke, etc.  could eventually be banned as “hate speech” in order to avoid “traumatizing” fragile neurotics like this student.

Parents need to be aware that their children could be swept up in this pandemic insanity.  The left has decided it is important to monitor your child’s psychological health by asking questions like: “Are you victimized by oppressive gender norms? Do you need a trigger warning before you read Shakespeare?” If your kid answers YES to either question, of if they dye their hair cerulean blue and start whining about “objectification” in video games, your precious little bundle of joy may well be at risk of becoming a weirdo, who characteristically believes they are entitled to whatever they want, whether they earned it or not.

During the time when students should be learning to face an often hard world as adults, and going through the often uncomfortable process of building their intellectual foundations, they are demanding to be sheltered from anything that might challenge their beliefs or recall unpleasant facts to their mind. And increasingly, colleges are accommodating them. Everything at colleges is now supposed to be thoroughly sanitized to the point of inoffensiveness.

Theoretically, the whole point of college is to teach young adults how to think, encompassing a wide range of disciplines such as art, history, philosophy, world culture, theology and literature. By the time the left has finished excising those disciplines that disagree with their agenda or that “offends” someone’s sensibilities, there is not much left of the curriculum or any reason left to go to college, except to throw temper tantrums when things don’t fit your expectations.

“The value of a college education is not the learning of many facts but the training of the mind to think” Albert Einstein
