The Society of Professional Journalists Code of Ethics states that “journalists should remain free of associations or activities that may compromise integrity or damage credibility.” Guess that went the way of ethics in government!
Columbia University’s School of Journalism, defines the news business by providing a one-sided education that celebrates left wing policies. It is overwhelmingly run by liberal journalist, most of whom work for left-wing news outlets in addition to their job of corrupting future journalists.
Columbia’s faculty reads like a who’s who of left-wing causes. Of the 40 full time faculty members, 27 work at left-wing news outlets that include Al-Jazeera, The Huffington Post, Mother Jones, The Daily Beast, and Slate. They are also cited as experts by the New York Times, ABC, CBS, The Washington Post and USA Today
Columbia’s professors have written for left-wing blogs calling Occupy Wall Street ‘sweet-tempered,” while bashing the Tea Party as ‘radicals.’ They’ve authored articles and books attacking Israel for ‘terrorizing’ Gaza, ranted about how the fossil fuel industry’s ‘extraordingary corporate culture of discipline and secrecy’ is destroying the environment, accused Repubicans of using racist ‘code language,’ and promoted liberal causes from socialized medicine, to gun control, to abortion.
And if ignoring the Professional Code of Ethics isn’t enough, Columbia also allows Al Jazeera employees to work as adjunct faculty and guest lecturers. They also promote Al Jazeera at their job fairs.
It should come as no surprise that the money promoting these left-wing socialist cheerleaders is the one and only George Soros. He has given Columbia $9.7 million, more than he has given to other liberal colleges. You’d think that having left-wing billionaires, like Soros, finance a School of Journalism would raise a few eye-brows!
Soros is also connected to the recently appointed dean of Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism, Steve Coll. Coll is former head of the New America Foundation, a progressive public policy organization that Soros has supported with more than $4.2 million since 2000. Before going to work for the New American Foundation (NAF), Coll was managing edior at the Washington Post.
NAF’s leadership claims to represent the values of “the radical center,” a designation which their founder Ted Halstead defined as an “economic program” representing “an implicit repudiation of the center-right neoliberalism symbolized by Bill Clinton, with a goal to adapt the socialist New Deal of FDR to the 21st century.” To reach their ‘goal’ they pushed ObamaCare because it would offer “a new image of how Americans view dying,” lobbyied Congress to pass a Carbon Tax, want to see a world ‘global’ government, and hate Israel. Pretty much your normal left-wing views.
In addition to getting money from George Soros, NAF is also funded by your every day left-wing organizations such as the Tides Foundation, the Gates Foundation, the Rockefeller Foundation, the Hewlett Foundation, the Ford Foundation, Google, H&R Block, Intel, Levi Strauss Foundation, the Pew Charitable Trust, to name a few.
