Perfection is unattainable. Ignore the fact that we disagree on the best way to live. If you want capitalism or if you want socialism, neither real system lives up to our ideals. Both will be imperfect. Your ideal system is a failure if it has to be staffed with angels. In fact, the best economic system not only withstands corruption but minimize the harm caused by corruption. That is why I laughed when I read that “real socialism” has never been tried. With their last breath, the victims sure thought it was socialism that killed them.
Government control isn’t a new idea, but I didn’t realize it had been sold so many times. Some of these countries I’ve listed escaped socialism and communism..to various degrees. At one point, these 45 governments told their citizens that a bureaucrat knows how to run their lives better than they do. That describes the least oppressive regimes, but often things became much worse. These socialist countries killed 145 million people. Some of these “near socialist” countries are still in power today, yet I don’t see our millennial socialists running of to live in these reincarnations of the “new socialist workers paradise”.

Communism has been tried over and over..and it fails over and over. Your college professor says that he’ll get it right this time but I don’t believe him. We’re told that the politics are settled and “We’re all socialists now.” No, we’re not. Lots of us have seen how this story ends. I don’t believe your favorite socialist politician who says it will only takes a few million more murders to bring us to paradise. I take violent exception when you say we should try. If capitalism becomes corrupted by greed, I don’t see the benefit of replacing it with greedy and corrupt government. We’ve seen “almost capitalism” succeed. We’ve seen “almost socialism” bury their dead.
I want capitalism. I want radically less government than we have now. I’ve seen our imperfect capitalism pull the world out of poverty. The poorest segment of society became better off as capitalism provided jobs, food and housing for them to take care of themselves. In contrast, I’ve seen socialists drag the wealthiest nations to their knees. I’ve seen socialist politicians use their military to kill their own people. I don’t want to see that here.
You’re free to disagree. That is the beauty of capitalism and free speech. If you think Socialism is so great, then I’ve given you a list of places you should be eager to live. To show you how open-minded and jenerous I am, I’ll help you pack your bags. What more could a non-violent socialist want?
