The Left Hates Religious Freedom

Today’s Democratic Party is the greatest threat in American history to each and every one of those 280 million Christians. The Party seeks, in the name of political correctness, to take God out of every aspect of our public lives.  Robert Steven Ingebo

The push to destroy religious freedom began in earnest during the Clinton Administration and accelerated during Obama’s time in office, when taxpayers were forced to fund the murder of unborn children even if it violated their conscience.  It continued as the Party sought to eliminate public funding from Christian colleges, created “hate lists” of Christian and Catholic schools and sought to remove all Christian and Catholic colleges from the NCAA.

Under Obama, Democrats censored pastors’ sermons, fired public officials because of what they wrote in a Bible study, and punished bakers, florists, and wedding photographers with massive fines, simply for wanting to run their businesses according to their Christian beliefs.

The Party line hasn’t changed. Their message to every American Christian is: Sure, you can go to church, but don’t you dare bring those beliefs outside the confines of that building. Don’t you dare allow those beliefs to govern your behavior outside of your place of worship!

The Democratic National Committee passed a resolution in 2019 openly praising “religiously unaffiliated” Americans while taking aim at “religious views” and “religious liberty” that threatened minority groups and nonreligious minorities.  They noted that “religiously unaffiliated Americans overwhelmingly share the Democratic Party’s values, with 70% voting strength in 2018.

Trevor Thomas, in Today’s Democrats: Anti-Christian, Anti-Israel, Anti-God,  published at American Thinker, writes that no one should be surprised that politicians who support the “right” to murder a child in the womb, who championed the legal redefinition of marriage, and who now pretend we can no longer rely on science, or common sense, or even simply our eyes to tell us who is male and who is female, would display open animus against people whose faith tells them such positions are immoral, and who live according to the notion that there is such a thing as absolute truth.

Democrats may outwardly campaign on a platform of unity and diversity, but their rhetoric and policies single out anyone who adheres to religious beliefs and moral convictions in an attempt to ostracize them from polite society.

Biden, while campaigning in 2018, described conservatives who oppose LGBT activism as “the dregs of society.” And when speaking to the Human Rights Campaign in 2019, he called the left’s Orwellian Equality Act his first priority to force orthodox Christians to violate their consciences.

And it’s not just Biden.  One of his staff tweeted that any orthodox Christian belief should be “taboo” and driven from the public sphere.  Another staffer tweeted that religious beliefs, whether Christian, or traditional Judaism, should disqualify any nominee from the Supreme Court.  As Senator, Kamala Harris launched an inquisition into the Catholic faith of two of Trump’s judicial nominees because they were members of the fraternal order of the Knights of Columbus. She also cited the left’s favorite hate mongering group, the Southern Poverty Law Center, in branding a conservative Christian law firm as a hate group.

Beneath all that talk of interfaith and pluralism this is what they truly believe.  They deny God, His existence and moral relevance, preferring instead a malleable, accommodationist god who adjusts reality to meet their preferences.

Christianity disgusts them. It interferes with “the civil rights and liberties” of many Americans, they claim.  Personally I have no idea what they’re talking but have heard them toss around claims of white Christian nationalism, an invented theory to make Christians look ugly.

In an article at NBC news, Racism among white Christians is higher than among the nonreligious. That’s no coincidence, by Robert P. Jones, author of “White Too Long: The Legacy of White Supremacy in American Christianity” claims that for most of American history, the light-skinned Jesus conjured up by white congregations demanded the preservation of inequality as part of the divine order.  The article further explains that white Christians, as the nation’s dominant cultural power, perpetuate white supremacy that lives in the DNA.  He also created a Racism Index in which, apparently, white evangelical Protestants excel.   I seriously doubt that Mr. Jones has ever set foot inside a true Christian church, or ever read the Bible.

Religious freedom is a nation’s strongest guarantee against tyranny which explains why it is also the first target that tyrants attack.  The more they succeed in ending religious freedom, the more they succeed in ending freedom, period.
