It’s the Nature of the Beast

It is the function of mass agitation to exploit all the grievances, hopes, aspirations, prejudices, fears, and ideals of all the special groups that make up our society, social, religious, economic, racial, and political. Stir them up. Set one against the other. Divide and conquer. That’s the way to soften up a democracy.” J. Edgar Hoover, Masters of Deceit

We’ve been losing our freedom incrementally for some time, sold to us in the name of national security and global peace.  For far too long Americans have played politics with their principles and turned a blind eye to all manner of wrongdoing when it was politically expedient thus allowing government to wreak havoc on our freedom and act in violation of the rule of law.

We now have a government that not only overreaches its authority but abuses its power at almost every turn; a government that treats its citizens like faceless statistics, enemies of the state; a government that is fast becoming the evil it claims to be fighting.

It is a government that uses propaganda to promote fear to increase their power and divide the people into factions.  We have become guinea pigs in a ruthlessly calculated, carefully orchestrated, chillingly cold-blooded experiment in how to control a population and advance a political agenda without much opposition.  It is mind control in its most sinister form.

According to investigative journalist Mike Adams, “this psychological bombardment is waged primarily via the mainstream media which assaults the viewer by the hour with images of violence, war, emotions and conflicts.  Because the human nervous system is hard wired to focus on immediate threats accompanied by depictions of violence, mainstream media views have their attention and mental resources funneled into the never-ending crisis of the NOW from which they can never have the mental breathing room to apply logic, reason or historical context. “

A populace that cannot think for themselves is a populace with its back to the wall: mute in the face of elected officials who refuse to represent us, helpless in the face of political abuse, powerless in the face of militarized tactics and technology that treat us like enemy combatants, and naked in the face of government surveillance that sees and hears all.

We have become a nation that has been systematically desensitized and acclimated to the trappings of a government that operates by fiat and speaks in a language of force.

As long as we allow ourselves to be distracted, entertained, occasionally outraged, always polarized but largely uninvolved and content to remain in the viewer’s seat, we’ll never manage to present a unified front against tyranny or government corruption and ineptitude.

The first step in liquidating a people is to erase its memory, destroy its books, its culture, its history. Then have somebody write new books, manufacture a new culture, invent a new history. Before long the nation will begin to forget what it is and what it was. Milan Kundera
